Bernd Mützelburg is a retired German ambassador. He served as Ambassador and Head of mission in Kenya (1991 – 1995), in Estonia (1995-1999) and in India (2006-2009). In his last assignment he was Germany's first Special Envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan (2009-2010).

His terms at Headquarters comprised in particular: Deputy Head of German Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher's Private Office during the years of German unification (1988-1991); Director General in the Foreign Office for Global issues and United Nations matters (2001-2002); Deputy Head (1999-2001) and later (2003-2005) Head of the Department for Foreign and Security Affairs as well as Development Cooperation in the Chancellor's Office (NSA).

After retirement from Public Service in 2010, Bernd Mützelburg became Managing Partner of "Ambassadors Associates-International Networking GmbH", a consultancy focusing on German relations with India and the Middle East. He is also a Board Member of the German-Arab Friendship Association (DAFG), where he is a co-founder of the annual German-Arab Gulf Dialogue on Security and Cooperation.

Besides his consultancy work, he continues to be engaged as expert in international mediation efforts on behalf of the German Foreign Office. For many years, he was also active as Chairman of the International Board of the German Center for International Peacekeeping activities (ZIF).

Dr. Satish Batra lives in Aachen, Germany since 1961, where he completed his studies in Electrical Engineering, specialising in Instrumentation & Process Control.

Dr. Batra is founder and President of the HORIZON Industrial Group of Companies, with manufacturing facilities and offices in Germany, the Netherlands and India — active in Instrumentation, Process Control and Environmental Engineering, including Shipping & Dredging.

He had the honour of accompanying various high-powered delegations from Germany to India, such as those led by former Chancellor Dr. Helmut Kohl, Mr. Gerhard Schröder, Dr. Angela Merkel and Mr. Olaf Scholz, as well as Federal Presidents Mr. Johannes Rau, Dr. Horst Köhler, Mr. Joachim Gauck and Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

Dr. Batra has contributed strongly to the positive climate between Germany and India, and was awarded German citizenship by the Federal Government.

He is Vice Chairman of DIG (Deutsch-Indische Gesellschaft e.V. Aachen), Council Member of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC), and Co-Founder & International Speaker of the German-Indian Round Table (GIRT). He is also a Member of the Executive Committee of FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry).

Trade delegation — Germany / India

Organised the "NRW-goes-to-India" delegation trip — over 100 participants, resulting in 12 joint ventures. Held in cooperation with the GIRT, the delegation was accompanied by Christa Thoben, Minister for Economic Affairs of North Rhine-Westphalia.
